Summer Camp Program Instructor

  • $18-$21 per hour
  • Full-Time (Temporary: Summer 2026)
  • Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Monday – Friday
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • End Date: July 26th, 2026

Position Overview: The Summer Camp Program Instructor will play a vital role in delivering a meaningful, fun, and structured summer experience. This full-time, seasonal position is responsible for executing lesson plans, leading educational and recreational activities, and creating a positive, supportive environment for middle and high school students. The Instructor will also help with transportation, safety, mentorship, and overall camp operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery & Engagement:

  • Execute lesson plans and activity schedules provided by the Director of Operations.
  • Assist with the planning and delivering educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
  • Actively engage students through daily check-in circles, team-building exercises, and structured learning sessions.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students by being an active, positive presence and mentor.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment that promotes student participation, learning, and personal growth.

Classroom and Activity Support:

  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up all program spaces and activities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of common areas and classrooms.
  • Follow and maintain the daily camp schedule to ensure smooth transitions between activities.
  • Monitor student behavior and support conflict resolution if necessary.

Data Management:

  • Record and maintain accurate attendance and participation records.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing program data for evaluation and reporting purposes.

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Support communication efforts with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program updates.
  • Help strengthen community partnerships to enhance student experiences.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with volunteer activities if needed.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the camp program.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with teenagers in educational, recreational, or camp settings.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience executing lesson plans and structured activities.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • High energy, flexible, and committed to youth development.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the EJS Project.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time seasonal position (Summer 2026).
  • Daily hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Some off-site activities and field trips during regular hours.

Compensation:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and discussed during the interview process. $18-21 an hour pay range

Program Instructor

  • Start Date: August 10th, 2026

Position Overview: The Program Instructor is responsible for managing the classroom, facilitating lesson plans, and carrying out the mission and vision of the EJS Project. This role includes engaging teenagers in educational and recreational activities, supporting them during program sessions, maintaining communication with students and families, and fostering a safe, encouraging environment. The Program Instructor works directly with students to ensure active participation and growth, while collaborating with staff to support the overall success of the program. This position reports to the Program Coordinator.
