2023 Washington D.C. Trip

From August 1st to August 4th, the EJS Project partnered with Achievement Centers for Children and Families to take 19 of our students to Washington D.C. This was our third trip as part of the Young Legislative Program and our second trip to Washington D.C. During this trip our student got to visit and tour:

  •     The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial
  •     The National Harbor
  •     The National Mall
  •     The Washington Monument
  •     The Lincoln Memorial
  •     The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
  •     The White House
  •     The Holocaust Museum
  •     Six Flags
  •     The National Museum of African American History & Culture
  •     George Washington University College Tour
  •     The Pentagon Mall

During this trip our Young Legislators also had the opportunity to visit the Syrian Emergency Task Force lead by Executive Director Mouaz Mustafa. We learned about the atrocities happening in Syria as a result of the Syrian dictatorship and its allies waging way on innocent civilians. In hearing about this tradegy, Mouaz and the Syrian Emergency Task Force gave our staff, volunteers and Young Legislators an opportunity to write “Letters of Hope.” These letters were crafted with love and care by our students and were then hand delivered by Mouaz and his team to children in need of some hope in Syria.
