2024 Young Legislators Program Alabama & Orlando Road Trip

To wrap up our 2024 Young Legislators Program, we treated our 22 exceptional students to an all-expenses-paid journey through the historic cities of Montgomery and Selma, Alabama. The trip provided a deep dive into the rich history of these iconic locations and culminated in an exciting finale in Orlando, in partnership with Achievement Centers for Children & Families. This unforgettable experience allowed our students to connect with the past, bond with each other, and create lasting memories.

Highlights of the trip included:

    • Legacy Museum
    • National Memorial for Peace & Justice
    • Freedom Monument Sculpture Park
    • Meeting with Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative
    • Launch Trampoline Park
    • City Council of Selma
    • Meeting with Mayor of Selma, James Perkins Jr.
    • Walking the Edmund Pettus Bridge
    • Site visit at fellow youth empowerment organization in Montgomery  That’s My Child & their restaurant That’s My Dog Jr.
    • Kayaking at Lake Louisa State Park
    • Shopping at The Mall at Millenia
